Zika virus 5 km Containment:

If the Zika virus infection is confirmed, the samples of the family members of the concerned infected should be sent to the NIV, Bengaluru. Containment zone should be declared within the 5 km around. It has been clarified that infected people and suspects should be kept separately. Zika virus can cause other serious problems in newborns, including microcephaly.

Therefore, the blood and urine of pregnant women in the area where Aedes mosquitoes are present should be sent to NIV, Bengaluru. In addition, it has been suggested that the health of children born in government and private hospitals in the last three months should be checked. Private practitioners should also be aware of the Zika virus.

This virus is also transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes like Dengue and Chikungunya. Therefore Aedes larval survey, fever surveys should be conducted in urban and rural areas. If any person is confirmed to be infected with Zika virus in 5 km or if the virus is confirmed in a mosquito in any water body, Scope should be contained.

It has been directed that Aedes larval survey and fever surveys should be conducted by visiting every house in the containment zone. This work should be carried out by health and hope workers. For this, additional Asha workers and health staff should be recruited from neighboring primary health centers. It is said that everyone should be trained for this.

Testing of Aedes mosquito samples:

Pond samples of Aedes mosquitoes should be sent to Bengaluru NIV. In areas with high fever, suspected Zika cases, samples should be collected every 15 days and sent for testing. It is suggested that rural development and urban local bodies should work in coordination.

– Be careful not to get bitten by mosquitoes during the day

– If you have symptoms of Zika infection, go to the hospital immediately

– This is a mild infection. But, don’t be negligent

– There is no specific medicine for this. Treatment by doctor based on symptom.
