Anna Bhagya Yojana is one of the guarantee schemes implemented by the Government of Karnataka recently. The Food Department has decided to implement a senior citizen friendly policy to deliver rations at doorsteps instead of going to fair price shops.

Anna Bhagya Yojana is one of the guarantee schemes implemented by the Government of Karnataka recently. The state government had promised to distribute 10 kg of rice per person under the Anna Bhagya Yojana for BPL and Antyodaya Ration Card holder.

But now 5 kg of rice is distributed to each person and the rest is 34 rupees per kg of five kg rice and a total of 170 rupees is deposited in the account of the beneficiaries. After five guarantee Karnataka government introduced another new scheme. This facility is helpful for senior citizen ration card holder in state.

Preparations have been made by the Food Department to deliver the ration under the Anna Bhagya Yojana to the doorsteps of those above 75 years of age. The Food Department has taken action to facilitate the distribution of rations to senior citizens. A member of a family having a ration card has to go to the fair price shop and after providing the biometric, get the ration including rice allotted to his family. A scheme has been devised to deliver the ration to the doorsteps of the elderly who find it difficult to go to the fair price shop to get the ration.

As mentioned in the ration card, the ration will be provided at door step to the elderly persons above 75 years of age and couples without members below 75 years of age. It has been said that even if the names of the members under 75 years of age are entered in the ration card, if they have migrated for work, the ration will be delivered to their doorstep if the elders of such families request.
