But now all the hopes of Indian cricket fans are on T20 World Cup 2024. Millions of people are waiting for Team India to kiss the T20 Cup and end the ten-year wait for the ICC trophy. The T20 World Cup 2024 will begin on June 1 with the Canada-USA match. The complete list of matches has already been announced. India will begin their hunt for the mega event with a match against Ireland on June 5.

Rohit Sharma has not played a single international T20 match since losing to England in the semi-final of T20 World Cup 2022. Rohit is expected to return as captain in the 2024 T20 World Cup with the aim of giving India a second trophy. Also, Virat Kohli has not played a single T20I since the 2022 World Cup. Whether the star batsman will return for the 2024 tournament remains to be seen.
A major change in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup could be the return of Rishabh Pant. The star wicket-keeper-batter was seriously injured in a road accident in December 2022 and was sidelined from cricket. There are reports that Pant may return to Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024.

If Pant shows good form, chances of getting a place in India’s T20 squad are high. If this happens, India’s second-choice keeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma after Isha Kishan may be left out of the World Cup 2024 squad. Similarly, Sanju Samson, who has not played in any T20I series since the Ireland tour, is also likely to miss out on the T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
