Mayank Yadav: A new hero emerged in the Indian Premier League match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Saturday as debutant fast bowler Mayank Yadav outfoxed the PBKS batters with his pace and accuracy.
Mayank Yadav emerged as the man of the match with three wickets in Lucknow’s 21-run win over Punjab. With his figures of 3/27, Mayank kept the scoring rate of the Punjab Kings batsmen in check, taking the wickets of Jonny Bairstow, Prabhasimran Singh and Jitesh Sharma.
The 21-year-old speedster consistently bowled deliveries at 150 kmph. One of those deliveries, at 155.8 kmph, set the record for the fastest ball bowled this season. In the post-match presentation, Mayank said, “I have always heard from others that I am nervous in the first balls but it goes away after the first ball.

My plan is not to stress too much, bowl the stumps and use as much pace as possible. Initially the idea was to mix pace but the wicket helped and the skipper told me to bowl early. The first wicket was a favourite. Coming off injury last season was tough, I had my sights set on debuting at a young age but injuries were a setback.

Mayank Yadav has played two first-class matches, 17 List-A matches and 11 T20Is.He represented Delhi at domestic level, making his List-A debut in 2021 and his first-class debut in 2022. He was named ‘Man of the Match’ for his 3/27 spell with Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh and Jitesh Sharma.
