Some media reported that Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya will miss the T20I series against Afghanistan on home soil and the newly appointed Mumbai Indians captain may not recover in time to lead the team in the IPL 2024. If Hardik not recover Rohit Sharma will lead Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024.
If true, the latest development could be a big blow to both Indian cricket team and Mumbai Indians. However, fans flooded social media with memes reacting to reports of Hardik Pandya possible absence in the IPL 2024 season. Hardik Pandya was traded from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians before the IPL player auction.

The five-time champions later announced that the player would replace long-serving Rohit Sharma as captain. Team India will face Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series between January 11 to 17, which will mark their final T20I match before the World Cup 2024 in June-July.
Hardik Pandya was ruled out of the World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh in Pune after injuring his ankle. Hardik had missed the T20I series against Australia and South Africa, with Suryakumar Yadav leading the side in his absence.
