Solar Eclipse 2023: The world will witness two astronomical wonders this month. First there will be an annual solar eclipse called `Ring of Fire’ followed by a lunar eclipse within a few days. However, people still believe the eclipse to be somewhat of an astronomical wonder at present. Now the sky will witness another such wonder.

The last solar eclipse of the year will happen this Saturday, October 14. It is commonly known as the ‘Ring of Fire’, an annual solar eclipse. On this day, the Sun will create a ring of fire around the Moon. The eclipse will occur with the Moon moving between the Sun and the Earth. The sun is partially obscured and a dazzling ring is visible. For this reason this eclipse is called ‘Ring of Fire’.

This solar eclipse occurring on October 14 will not be visible in India. However, people in the Western Hemisphere can experience this phenomenon, scientists said. This eclipse can be seen in America. It is visible on a narrow path that crosses the USA from Oregon to Texas.

It then passes through Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and parts of Brazil. Elsewhere in the Americas, a partial solar eclipse will be visible from Alaska to Argentina.

Solar Eclipse 2023 Date and Time: October 14, Saturday. An annular or annual solar eclipse starts in one place and ends in another, NASA said. Accordingly, the eclipse will begin at 9:13 am (PDT) in Oregon and end at 12:03 pm (CDT) in Texas.

After this eclipse, the next solar eclipse will occur in the US on June 21, 2039. USA will have to wait another 15 years to see this Ring of Fire eclipse. Anyone who is in the area where the eclipse is happening has a chance to see the eclipse.

Rather than viewing the eclipse with the naked eye, view the annual solar eclipse with special eye protection designed for solar viewing. It is never safe to look directly at the Sun during an eclipse. So take precautionary measures.

Lunar eclipse will also occur during the fortnight of this month. The second and last lunar eclipse will take place on October 28, 29. This eclipse will occur in India, a partial lunar eclipse will occur when the Moon passes through the Earth’s shadow between 1.06 and 2.23 Indian Standard Time.
