LPG cylinder will be available at Rs 300 discount for next 9 months

LPG Cylinder: This scheme was launched in 2016. Beneficiaries of the scheme will be given 12 recharges in a year in the financial year 2024-25. Under the scheme, a subsidy of Rs 300 is available for a 14.2 kg cylinder.

LPG cylinder: The Narendra Modi government is once again back in power at the centre. It is clear that after the return of the new government, the beneficiaries will continue to get the benefits of various schemes of the central government. For example, beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujwala Yojana i.e. PMUY Rs. 300 will continue to get the subsidy, however, this subsidy will be available for the next 9 months.

Let us tell you that a common consumer is getting an Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder for Rs 803 in the national capital Delhi. However, Ujjwala beneficiaries are getting a cylinder for Rs 503 after a discount of Rs 300.

In fact, in the month of March, the Union Cabinet had approved the continuation of the target subsidy of Rs 300 to consumers of Pradhan Mantri Ujwala Yojana. The beneficiaries of the scheme will get this subsidy till March 31, 2025. This means that for the next 9 months, customers will be able to avail a discount of Rs 300.

The scheme was launched in 2016 and beneficiaries of the scheme will be given 12 recharges in a year in the financial year 2024-25. The scheme provides a subsidy of Rs 300 per 14.2 kg cylinder. As on March 1, 2024, there are over 10.27 crore PMUY beneficiaries. The total expenditure in the financial year 2024-25 is Rs 12,000 crore.

The subsidy will be directly deposited into the bank account of the eligible beneficiaries. Let us tell you that the government will work on a plan to provide 75 lakh new connections under this scheme. Let us tell you that India imports 60 percent of its LPG requirement. The government introduced the subsidy to protect PMUY beneficiaries from the impact of sharp fluctuations in international LPG prices and to ensure continuous consumption of LPG by PMUY consumers.
