Forecast summary for the next five days from Thursday to Monday: The Northern Limit of the Southwest Monsoon presently runs off Southern Peninsular India, south Sri Lanka, over parts of the Bay of Bengal and off the northern Andaman Island. Under its influence, fairly widespread rains and thunderstorms are likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on Thursday and Friday.

The conditions are favourable for further advance of the Southwest Monsoon over some parts of the Southwest Arabian Sea, some more parts of the Southeast Arabian Sea, Comorin area, Southwest Bay of Bengal, Southeast Bay of Bengal, East-central Bay of Bengal and some parts of Northeast Bay of Bengal in 2 days.

Meanwhile, a trough will persist over South Peninsula India, and westerly winds from the Arabian Sea will bring humidity over South Peninsula India in this period. A cyclonic circulation could persist over North-Eastern India and bring fairly widespread to widespread rain and thunderstorm over the NorthEast in this period. Heavy rains are expected over isolated places of Assam and Meghalaya on Thursday and from Saturday onward and over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Sunday and Monday.
