Heavy Rainfall Alert In 24 States: Issued Red Alert, Storm Warning

Rain will occur in 24 states including Karnataka and red alert has been declared in some places. According to IMD Monsoon has once again returned to the country, heavy rainfall is expected at various places in Bihar.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be 36 degrees Celsius. Today Delhi-NCR will have cloudy weather with light rain or drizzle. Rainfall has continued across the country and many states have been receiving rain for the past few days.

Rain will occur in 24 states including Karnataka and red alert has been declared in some places. According to IMD Monsoon has once again returned to the country, heavy rainfall is expected at various places in Bihar. Against this backdrop, the India Meteorological Department has announced a Red Alert in Bihar today.

The Weather department has forecast heavy rain at isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya today. Orange alert has been declared in these areas due to heavy rains.

According to IMD, rain with lightening and strong thundershower (wind speed 30-40 kmph) may occur at isolated places over Kerala and Mahe today. But Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland will receive heavy rainfall.

Besides, rain and lightning are likely at isolated places over Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Gujarat, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. According to IMD, gusty winds of 55 km h to 65 km are likely over southwest and adjacent west-central Arabian Sea today.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea in these areas. The Southwest Monsoon has returned to the country, the IMD said, while a cyclonic circulation is located in the lower troposphere over Southwest Bihar. A cyclonic circulation is likely to develop in and around the North Andaman Sea on September 29.

Due to its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining East Central Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. After that, it is expected to move towards west-northwest with possibility of gradual intensification.
