Bank Holidays: Before the start of every new month, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases the bank holiday list. Similarly, there are only a handful of days left for the start of April, and the holiday schedule has been released.

Accordingly, banks will not function for a total of 14 days in the month of April. Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays are also holidays for banks as usual. Since April is the first month of the financial year 2024-25, some people may have to visit the bank for some financial related work.

If there are such urgent tasks, visit the bank after looking at the holiday list. Otherwise both your time and effort will be wasted. However, ATMs and online banking systems will function as usual during these holidays. There is no difference in this.

Now usually all Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays are holidays for all banks across the country. Holidays are given according to respective regional celebrations and festivals. However, only public and gazetted holidays are applicable to all banks across the country. There is no problem for online transactions during holidays.

However, if you have to visit the bank, it is better to look at the holiday list. If you want to apply for loans like home loan, car loan, etc., you have to visit the bank. So check which days are bank holidays in the month of April and visit after that. This will not cause any problem.

RBI has divided bank holidays into three categories-

  1. Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act,
  2. Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holidays
  3. Accounts Closing Holidays- The holidays in the RBI holiday list will be applicable to public sector, private sector, foreign banks, co-operative banks and regional banks.

April 5: Babu Jagjivan Ram Birthday/Jumat-ul-Vidah

April 7: Sunday

April 9: Gudi Padwa/Yugadi Festival/Telugu New Year’s Day/First Navaratra

April 10: Ramadan-Id (Eid-ul-Fitr)

April 11: Ramadan-Id (Eid-ul-Fitr)

April 13: Festival of Bohag Bihu/Cheroba/Baisaki/Biju

April 14: Sunday
