Monkeypox is also spread through sexual intercourse

Studies have shown that monkeypox infection can also be spread through close physical contact. Given the prevalence of monkeypox in America, it appears to be a sexually transmitted disease. According to the WHO, monkeypox can be spread through any form of intimate contact, including kissing, touching, oral sex or intercourse, experts say.

Therefore, doctors warn that it is better to refrain from sexual activity when any new type of rash appears on the skin, saying that this disease is similar to other infectious diseases such as chicken pox, herpes and syphilis.

Symptoms of monkeypox

Its early symptoms include fever, headache, swelling, back pain, muscle aches and general lethargy. After the fever subsides, a rash may appear all over the body. These rashes usually start on the face, then spread to other parts of the body, usually appearing on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. Monkeypox can also spread to a person who comes in contact with an infected person.
