Maharashtra Lockdown extend: BMC issued new guidelines

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government decided to further extend the lockdown in the state till June 15, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In his address to the state, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said, “We are putting in place restrictions and not a strict lockdown.

In an order issued by the BMC on Monday, a few restrictions have been kept in place while others have been relaxed as per a DNA report. The BMC has further stated that these orders will be applicable until the directives issued by the state government under ‘Break The Chain’ remain in force.

The new guidelines issued by the BMC are as follows:

1) All the shops selling essential items that remain opened from 7 AM to 11 AM at present, have been allowed to operate from 7 Am to 2 PM

2) For the next 15 days, the BMC has now allowed non-essential shops to function between 7 AM to 2 PM on alternate days from Monday to Friday

3) On the weekends, all the non-essential shops have been asked to remain shut

4) As per the order, the shops located on the right side of the roads will be open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the shops on the left side will be allowed to operate on Tuesday and Thursday

5) The order also stated that next week, the shops on the left side of the road will be open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the shops on the right will be open on Tuesday and Thursday

6) The order has also stated that all business units must ensure that everyone should wear masks and all the COVID-19 protocols are strictly followed.
