China’s new dating trend; Kissing with strangers

A new dating trend is making a lot of news in China, according to a report by the South China Morning Post. In which people meet strangers online for anonymous kisses. It is called ‘Zhai Yu’ in Mandarin. China’s new dating trend; Kissing with strangers.

That means in English it is called mouth buddies. This is one trend that has inspired social users in China. It has seen a resurgence in Covid cases. Some social media users have given advice to young people who are interested in participating in this trend.

According to the rules, ‘Mouth Buddies’ are only for kissing. The SCMP report said that there was no relationship or sexuality involved and most people did not meet strangers after anonymous lip-locking. In fact, after kissing each other, some people know who the person I kissed was. But we are not lovers.

So kissing is normal it’s not a big deal and enjoying the intimacy is what matters to me. So with the person who kisses, I feel like I’m kissing the life I love,” Guan Li, a student, was quoted as saying in the outlet paper.

An arts student told me that while I was working on a thesis paper, I had some time to start a relationship so I tried the mouth buddies trend. Another student, Cheng Peng, contacted by SCMP said, ‘Kissing comforts people both physically and mentally. And it’s less complicated than sex.

A Weibo user gave advice to people who want to try the Mouth Buddies trend. One of them was a woman named Zhang. She said she kissed a man she met in a cinema hall in Beijing. Some users have suggested not to agree to kiss in such places as bars, sidewalks or people’s houses, and a person named Zhang said ‘kissing can be dangerous to health.’

It harbors millions of microorganisms, including dangerous bacteria. So if you are concerned, you can ask your potential kissing partner to show the health check-up report, the SCMP report said.
