Shikaripur: Narayana Murthy (80 years), an Ayurvedic physician from Narasipura, has gained fame in the country and abroad. Narayana Murthy, who gained popularity by delivering effective medicine for cancer, has died of a heart attack at a private hospital.
Narayana Murthy, originally from Shikaripur in Shimoga district, is based in Narasipura in the Sagara taluk. Narayana Murthy of Narasipuram was famous as a cancer medicine wizard. Narayana Murthy has been practicing medicine for the past 25 years at home, not only cancer, but also many other ailments, including arthritis, diabetes, allergies, dermatitis.
Thousands gathered in front of their homes every Thursday and Sunday to get medicine. Narayana Murthy had gained fame abroad as well. National Geography Channel aired a special program on Narayana Murthy.
Narayana Murthy was bringing herbs from the forest and preparing his own medicine. Whereas hospitals are asking for Lakhs of rupees for cancer medicine. Narayana Murthy was distributing drugs for only 100 rupees. This is why so many people are coming for the drug.
But the district health department has requested Narayana Murthy to stop distributing the drug as the lockdown is being imposed due to coronavirus spread. It was in this backdrop that he stopped giving medicine.
