Mysuru : In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police have arrested a Mysuru-based  person for allegedly sending over 1,100 bomb threat emails to institutions across India, triggering widespread panic and security alerts.

The arrested accused has been identified as Srinivas alias Srinivas Louis, a resident of Brindavan Layout in Mysuru. According to investigators, the accused had been systematically targeting multiple locations including courts, educational institutions, government offices, railway stations, and airports with hoax bomb threats.

Police sources said the accused used emails and phone calls to claim that explosives had been planted in sensitive locations, causing repeated disruptions and heightened security measures in several cities. These threats forced authorities to conduct emergency evacuations and intensive  operations at various sites.

During the operation, Delhi Police teams tracked the digital footprint of the accused and zeroed in on his location in Mysuru. He was subsequently taken into custody after a coordinated effort involving local police support.

Officials confirmed that several electronic devices, including laptops and multiple SIM cards, were seized from the accused’s residence. These items are expected to provide crucial evidence regarding the scale and pattern of the offences.

Investigators believe that the accused had been operating over a period of time and had sent more than 1,100 threat emails, making it one of the significant hoax threat cases in recent times.

Police have indicated that the accused will be taken to Delhi for further interrogation to ascertain his motive, possible accomplices, and whether there were any larger intentions behind the repeated threats.

Authorities are also examining whether the accused acted alone or was part of a broader network. Cyber forensic teams are analysing data retrieved from the seized devices to map communication trails and identify additional links.

The  incident had created widespread concern, particularly due to the targeting of critical infrastructure such as airports and courts, which require high levels of security preparedness.

Officials have reiterated that strict action will be taken against those responsible for spreading panic through such hoax threats, as they divert critical resources and pose serious risks to public safety.
