Saif Ali Khan is gearing up to play the role of the main antagonist Lankesh in Prabhas starrer Adipurush. With this film, the actor will be reuniting with his Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior director Om Raut.
While introducing the character of Lankesh, Prabhas wrote on his Instagram page, “7000 years ago existed the world’s most intelligent demon!” Now, during an interaction, Saif spoke at length about playing the role of Lanka’s king on the big screen.
In a recent interview Saif Ali Khan spoke about his role in Adipurush for the first time and revealed that director Om Raut has made the evil character humane and entertaining. He said, “It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that.
But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off her nose (sic.)”
The 3D extravaganza will have a humongous release with the film dubbed in Tamil, Malayalam, and several other foreign languages. The film is officially set to hit the theatres on August 9, 2022.
Adipurush will be the biggest Indian film to release in theatres post-COVID-19. It will have a lot of VFX work involved and techniques never seen before in Indian films. Helmed on the whopping budget of Rs 350-400 crore.
Adipurush is bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar and Rajesh Nair under T- Series.
