School Lunch Timing Change: The Education department has instructed to change the lunch time in Karnataka public schools where the number of children is high and there is only one kitchen. School Lunch Timing Change: Education department new order.

Placing small children together with older children and distributing food and serving meals in a short amount of time can lead to jostling while washing dishes. In order to prevent this, changes have been made in the school lunch timing.

The children of class I to 5 have been told to distribute lunch (Bisi Uta) at separate times from 1 pm to 1.45 pm and to children of class 6 to 10 from 2 pm to 2.40 pm. The Commissioner of Education Department said that the School Development and Management Committee should discuss and take appropriate action in this regard.

This aspect has been included in the various recommendations made by the State Government’s Evaluation Authority and Directorate of Social Research for effective implementation of mid-day breakfast scheme and Ksheerabhagya scheme in schools. It has been told to pay attention to the quality, quantity, nutrition, cleanliness, safety and deficiencies of school lunch (Bisi Uta).
