School Winter Vacation 2023: North Indian states including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and other states have been experiencing cold waves and dense fog, prompting officials to declare a winter holiday. School Holiday Extend Till January 14 in these states.

The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that the low temperature is likely to affect health. Some school already in Christmas holiday till January 1 now it as extended till January 14.

Here is the details of school winter vacations in different parts of India:

1. Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh has declared winter vacation for about 15 days from December 31, 2023 to January 14, 2024. Officials have allowed for a possible extension if the prevailing weather conditions persist.

2. Delhi

Schools in Delhi were unexpectedly closed from November 9 to 18 due to increased pollution. The winter vacation will be from January 1, 2024 to January 6, 2024.

3. Punjab

Punjab has streamlined its winter vacation schedule, schools will remain closed from December 24 to 31, 2023. The reopening is slated for January 1, 2024, although the closure may be reconsidered if cold wave conditions worsen.

4. Haryana

Government and private schools in Haryana will remain closed from January 1 to 15, 2024. This decision applies to schools affiliated to Haryana Board and schools affiliated to CBSE and ICSE.

5. Rajasthan

The winter break in Rajasthan started on December 25 and is scheduled to continue till January 5, 2024. As in other regions, expansions are plausible based on evolving climate conditions.

6. Jharkhand

Jharkhand has mandated closure of schools from December 26 to 31 as part of winter break. A potential expansion is under consideration if there is no improvement in the prevailing climate.

7. Jammu

In Jammu, the winter break up to Class 8 started on December 11 and will continue till February 29. For classes 9 to 12, the break began on December 18 and lasted until February 29. Directorate of School Education Jammu has provided comprehensive notifications detailing the arrangements for this winter vacation, emphasizing flexibility based on dynamic weather conditions.
