Rain Holiday: declared school college holiday in these places today

Due to heavy rains, many state governments have announced schools holidays. Some states have also announced school closure in some districts due to Kanwar Mela. ‘Kanwar Yatra’ is an annual pilgrimage of Lord Shiva’s devotees. Rain Holiday: declared school college holiday in these places today.

Heavy rains have been pounding several parts of north India for past few days, leading to landslides in many hill states and most rivers, including the Yamuna in Delhi, in space. In many cities, including Delhi and Gurgaon, waterlogging led to traffic woes. Railway services have also been hit.

Due to heavy rainfall and thunderstorm and orange alert that the IMD has issued for various states of India, some state governments have declared the closure of schools and institutions.  A yellow alert was also issued by the weather department because of heavy rain in Delhi-NCR, where the temperature was recorded below 30 degrees Celcius.

Today schools in Delhi, Gurugram, and Faridabad have been closed due to rainfall. Private schools have shifted to offline mode in some places. The chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has announced a holiday for all schools tomorrow, July 10, considering the heavy rains. All schools in Delhi across educational board’s state government, private or semi government-aided, in the capital will remain closed tomorrow.

 Sharing a tweet on social media, the chief minister said: “In view of the torrential rains lashing Delhi since last 2 days and warnings from the Meteorological Department, all schools in Delhi are being closed for a day tomorrow.” Several parts of Delhi have been receiving heavy rains since Saturday, July 8.

Water logging, buildings and school walls collapsing, and Delhi Fire Service has reported the death of one person. On Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast high-intensity rain for the next 2-3 days in Delhi.

Schools for all children up to class 12 will be shut today. Authorities of a dozen districts, including Noida, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur, Etah, Mainpuri and Firozabad. Lucknow, Aligarh, Meerut, Gautam Buddh Nagar, and Ghaziabad, ordered the closure of schools today in the wake of heavy rains. Schools in Punjab’s Ludhiana will remain closed as per the order of the Deputy Commissioner.

All state-affiliated educational institutions will be closed by the government on July 10 and 11 for two days in Himachal Pradesh. Schools and colleges in the taluks of Kottayam and Kuttanad will be closed. Schools in Haridwar will remind closed from July 10 to July 17 due to Kanwar Mela and rainfall. Schools and Anganwadi centres in Dehradun also remain closed.
