Talking to the media about the holiday in Ankola of Uttara Kannada district, Madhu Bangarappa said, I am not going to create any controversy in this matter. I am a devoted Rama devotee, who knows the behavior of Rama. But BJP is doing politics in front of Ram. He lashed out at the BJP saying that they have not given us the intelligence to do politics on the issue of Shri Ram.

Pro-Hindu activists have appealed to the government through the District Collectors to grant a holiday in Davangere district on January 22 in view of the inauguration of the Ram Mandir. Pro-Hindu activists given manthrakashathe to District Collector and has requested to be given a government holiday and one day to ban the sale of meat across the district.

In Mandya too, the BJP workers have given requet to the District Collector to declare a government holiday on January 22. They have also requested to ban meat and liquor shops.
