The holiday applies to all Anganwadi centers, government, aided, and private primary and high schools across the district. This precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety of students and staff amidst the severe weather conditions.
Authorities have urged residents to stay updated on weather reports and take necessary precautions during this period of heavy rainfall.
4 People of Family Die In House Wall Collapse in Dakshina Kannada
A heartbreaking incident took place in Madani Nagar of Munnur village of Ullal taluk in the early morning of Wednesday June 26 when a compound wall collapsed on a house and a family of four died.
The victims have been identified as Yasir (45), his wife Mariamma (40), and their daughters Rihanan (11) and Rifan (17), who lived in Rihana Manzil’s house. This tragedy happened when the compound wall of the house belonging to Abubakar collapsed.
Yasir was working in Bandar. Family members were sleeping after dinner, parents and daughters were found dead early in the morning. The compound wall and two arecanut trees fell on Yasir’s house due to the overnight rain. Rihanna and Rifan attended a private school and college in the city. Six years ago, he bought a house, rented it for a year and moved back six months ago.

His elder daughter Rasheena got married in Kerala and returned home for Bakrid celebrations. She went back to her husband’s house on Tuesday. A similar wall collapse incident occurred two years ago, but luckily, no one was hurt that time. After a three-hour rescue operation, the bodies of four family members were recovered. Locals managed to extricate three bodies from the rubble, firemen worked with locals for two hours to extricate the last body.
