The move comes after health problems such as dehydration, stomach upset; dry throat and headaches have increased among students due to low water intake. Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh has instructed the Deputy Director of Public Education Department (DDPI) to ring the water bell three times a day for children to drink water.

Water is very important to keep the body hydrated and healthy. The water bill will be applicable to all schools,” said BC Nagesh. In 2019, former Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar introduced the concept on the advice of the then Tourism Minister CT Ravi to implement the Kerala model in the state.

Shivamogga: The government has issued an order to provide free electricity facility up to 75 units per month to all the below poverty line (BPL) card holder families belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes under the Amruta Jyoti programme. Beneficiaries must have fully paid the outstanding electricity amount by the end of Date: 30-04-2022 to avail this facility. Monthly electricity consumption should not exceed a maximum of 250 units. Scale installation and scale reading shall be mandatory.

BPL Ration Card, Aadhaar Card and Caste Certificate (with RD number) should be provided. Electricity charges for consumption up to 75 units will be credited directly to the bank account.
