Education Department issued new guidelines for school tour

Some schools have requested for educational trips to other states. But in the circular dated 14/11/2022, there is no direction regarding giving permission to take to other state, so guidance is sought for giving permission in this regard.

The School Education Department of Karnataka has issued a clarification regarding educational tours for primary and secondary school students. Travel to other states is also permitted on Indian Railways.

B. B. Kaveri, Commissioner School Education Department has issued a circular in this regard. This circular contains a clarification on granting permission for educational tours to primary and secondary school students of the state. A circular has been issued for the primary and high school students of the state to undertake educational tours.

Accordingly, it has been reviewed, it has been directed to grant permission to the respective field education officers as per the conditions for the primary and high school students of the state to go on educational tour across the country every academic year and said that the said educational tour can also be done in Indian Railways trains.

Educational tour, conditions: A circular has already been issued for permission to go on educational tours to primary and high school students of the state. Also the conditions are mentioned in it. In this previous circular, it has been suggested that no educational tour should be conducted due to the serious situation caused by the spread of Covid-19 epidemic across the country.

But in the academic year 2022-23, guidance and permission has been sought for the primary and high school students of the state to undertake educational tours. As per the conditions, the field education officers are instructed to review the appeals and give permission.

– Educational tour should be undertaken by the end of December every year. Prioritizing educational activities without undertaking educational tours after December for any reason.

– Only students with parental consent will be taken on educational trips.

– To make the trip an educational trip, choosing places for the trip that will complement the students’ learning.

– The private schools undertaking the tour should compulsorily renew the school accreditation in the current academic year.

– If the educational tour is undertaken on school days, then on the following days i.e. Saturday full day/Sunday school will be held to make up the lack of curricular activities.

– No facility will be provided for the trip by the department.

– The head of the school will be directly responsible for any mishaps that may occur during the trip. Department is not responsible.

– Educational tour should be undertaken compulsorily in Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation or Karnataka State Tourism Department vehicles.

– Travel in private and mini buses should not be undertaken without authorization for any reason.

– Children’s health and safety should be given top priority and safety measures should be strictly followed regarding Covid-19.

– The supervision of the female students who have taken the trip should be mandatorily supervised by the female teacher assigned to the trip.
