Dasara Holiday 2023: New update, Again Bad news for Students

Dasara holidays were shortened due to Corona in the last few years. But this time also the students who were happy that they will get a full Dasara holiday from October are disappointed now. According to the revised guidelines issued by the state government, Dasara holiday has been reduced this year also.

According to the guidelines issued by the Karnataka state government at the beginning of the year, the Dasara holiday was scheduled from October 2 to 29. But according to the Dasara guidelines that have just been issued, the Dasara holiday this time is scheduled from October 8 to 24.

Dasara holiday for special children has been canceled this time. In this background, teachers are forced to go to schools even during Dasara vacation. This has caused outrage among students and teachers. For the last three years, the state government had cut the summer vacation due to Corona.

Allegations have been heard that the state government has shortened the Dasara holiday when the educational activities are going on properly. Last year, the Dussehra holiday period was changed in Dakshina Kannada and Mysuru districts. But this time the Dussehra celebrations will be held during the Dasara period, which has made the children and parents happy, and there is very little chance of a change in the Dussehra holiday across the state. This time Mysuru Dasara will be held from October 15 to October 24.

Available School Days for Academic Year 2023-24 : 244

Examination and Assessment Officer (FA and SA): 26 days

For Conduct of Extra Curricular Activities / Co-curricular Activities / Competitions : 24 days

School Local Holidays : 10 days

Remaining duty days for teaching-learning process – 180 days

School duty days for first term – 29-05-2023 to 02-10-2023

School Duty Days for Second Term – Date 25-10-2023 to Date 10-04-2024

School Holidays:

Dasara holiday from 08-10-2023 to 24-10-2023.

Summer vacation from 11-04-2024 to 28-05-2024.

While the Dussehra holiday period has been reduced in Karnataka, According to an official notification the Bihar Education Department has reduced the period of festival holidays from September 23 to December 11.

BJP has criticized the move of canceling 15 holidays in government schools in Bihar. The BJP alleged that according to the new notification issued by the state government, the Raksha Bandhan, Teej and Juthiya holidays given to government schools have been cancelled.
