Primary and Secondary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa said that some rules have been formulated for the promotion of teachers from primary school to high school and from high school to pre-graduation colleges. Accordingly, during high school recruitment, 50% of the posts are filled under direct recruitment, while the remaining 50% of the posts are being filled by promoting primary school teachers, he said.

Similarly, during the recruitment of PU college lecturers, 75% of the posts are being filled by promoting high school teachers. He said that the teachers who are promoted as lecturers have to write the qualifying examination, for which the general category should get 55% marks and SC, ST should get 50% marks.

Many opposition members, including Maritibbe Gowda, expressed opposition to his statement. Also, because of the rule that high school teachers write an exam for promotion, teachers are being tortured mentally. He demanded that it should be cancelled.

In response to this, Minister Madhu Bangarappa has said high school teachers to come to me and told their problem regarding this. I don’t agree with the teacher writing the exam. Therefore, next week, a meeting will be held with the Vidhana Parishad members and officials where the teachers’ constituencies have been selected, and it will be decided whether to cancel or modify it, he said.
