KSRTC Bus Journey: A woman doctor traveling from Doddaballapur to Bengaluru on a KSRTC bus was allegedly molested by a fellow passenger, prompting swift action from co-passengers and police. The incident occurred on bus number KA-04-F-1543, where the accused, identified as Firoz Khan, boarded and deliberately sat next to the doctor.
According to the complaint, Khan began harassing the woman by making inappropriate physical contact and behaving in a sexually suggestive manner. Despite her repeated attempts to avoid him, the accused continued his advances, causing distress and discomfort.
Unable to tolerate the harassment, the doctor informed her brother and the bus driver about the situation. Her brother immediately contacted the police, while the conductor and fellow passengers intervened to prevent Khan from escaping.
The accused was restrained and handed over to the Sanjay Nagar police upon arrival in Bengaluru. The doctor has filed a formal complaint, and police have initiated legal proceedings against Khan under relevant sections of the law pertaining to sexual harassment.
The incident has sparked concern over the safety of women in public transport, especially during intercity travel. Authorities have reiterated the importance of reporting such cases promptly and assured that strict action will be taken against offenders.
This case follows a string of recent incidents involving sexual misconduct, including a college HOD accused of harassing a student under the pretext of academic support. Such events have reignited public discourse on the need for stronger safeguards and awareness campaigns to ensure women’s safety in both public and institutional spaces.
