PAN Card: Easy step to get lost PAN card Card in minutes
PAN card: Losing your PAN card can be a hassle, but thanks to the online services provided by the Income Tax Department and its authorized agencies, getting a new one is a quick and straightforward process.
Here’s a breakdown of how you can get a duplicate or e-PAN card from the comfort of your home.
1. Instant e-PAN (New PAN Card):
If you have never been issued a PAN card before and need one urgently, the Instant e-PAN facility is the fastest option. It is a paperless, free, and online service that provides you with a digitally signed e-PAN within minutes.
Process:
Visit the Income Tax E-filing Portal: Go to the official Income Tax Department website and navigate to the “Instant e-PAN” section.
Enter Your Aadhaar Number: This service is exclusively for individuals with a valid Aadhaar number and a linked mobile number. You’ll need to enter your Aadhaar number.
OTP Validation: An OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar. You will need to enter this OTP for verification.
Get Your e-PAN: Once the details are verified, your e-PAN will be generated. You can download the e-PAN PDF from the same portal. The e-PAN is a valid form of PAN and can be used for all official purposes.
Note: This service is only for new PAN applicants who have not been allotted a PAN before. It is not for minors or for those who already have a PAN.

2. Reprint of an Existing PAN Card:
If you have lost your physical PAN card, you can easily request a reprint of your existing one. The process is handled by PAN service providers like Protean (formerly NSDL) and UTIITSL. This is the correct process for getting a new physical card for an existing PAN.
Process:
Visit the PAN Service Provider’s Website: Go to either the Protean (NSDL) website or the UTIITSL website.
Select “Reprint of PAN Card”: Look for the “Reprint of PAN Card” or “Changes/Correction in PAN Data” section and select the appropriate option.
Fill the Online Form: Enter your existing PAN number, Aadhaar number, date of birth, and other required details.
Make Payment: Pay the nominal fee online using a credit/debit card, net banking, or other available options. The fee for a physical PAN card dispatched within India is ₹50 (inclusive of taxes).
Aadhaar-based Authentication: You can use the Aadhaar-based e-KYC option for a completely paperless process. An OTP will be sent to your Aadhaar-registered mobile number to verify your details.
Receive Your New Card: The new physical PAN card will be dispatched to the communication address linked to your Aadhaar or the latest address available with the Income Tax Department. The card is usually delivered within 15-20 days.
Important Points to Remember:
FIR for Lost Card: While not always mandatory for an online reprint, it is advisable to file a First Information Report (FIR) with the police if your card was stolen or lost. A copy of the FIR can be submitted with the application if required.
Know Your PAN: If you have lost your card and don’t remember your PAN number, you can use the “Know Your PAN” facility on the Income Tax E-filing portal to retrieve it using your personal details.
e-PAN Download: If you have applied for a new PAN or a reprint and want to use it immediately, you can download the e-PAN from the NSDL or UTIITSL website after your application has been processed. This is a valid document.
