Chennai: Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin on Saturday announced the extension of lockdown in the state, till July 19. The decision comes following a meeting of CM Stalin with top officials. While some relaxations have been announced, inter-state bus transport (private and government), cinema halls, bars/pubs, swimming pools, cultural/political events involving the public, educational institutions, and zoos will remain shut.
“Shops, commercial activities will be allowed to function till 9 pm. Earlier they were permitted till 8 pm only. Hotels, tea-stalls, bakeries, roadside shops, etc can function with 50% capacity till 9 pm. Moreover, bus services to Puducherry can also resume their operations now, the government notification stated. The new set of guidelines will come into effect from Monday, 12th July.

• Restaurants can serve dine-in customers at 50% capacity while adhering to Covid-19 norms.
• Amusement parks can re-open with 50 per cent capacity.
• IT Offices can now operate with 50% attendance.
• Weddings and funerals can take place in all districts.
• Hotels and tea shops can function with 50% of customers.
• A maximum of 50 guests is allowed for a wedding function.
• Maximum of 20 people can take part in a funeral.
• Inter-state private bus transport and international air travel except the ones allowed by the Centre remain prohibited.
• Buses can operate within districts and between districts with the number of passengers capped at 50% seating capacity.
• Gyms allowed to operate
• Swimming pools, social and political meetings, entertainment, sports and cultural events will not be allowed.
• Schools and colleges will continue to remain closed.
• Cinema halls and bars to stay shut.
