A boy who was jumping on a bed fell out of the fourth-floor window of a New York City apartment building Friday and died, authorities said. Daniel Galeas, 3, was found unconscious in the back area of the 40-unit building in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan US media reported.

The child lived a few blocks away in a different apartment building but was staying with his aunt and other children when he fell, the boy’s grandmother told the television station. The boy’s mother was at work at the time of the incident.

Authorities are looking at how the air conditioning unit was installed, the television station reported. Police said it was too small for the window and cardboard was used to fill the gap.
Family members told that the building’s management was to blame for improperly securing the unit to the apartment window. Apartment officials told the television station that the family installed the unit on their own WNBC reported.
