When WhatsApp announced its new privacy policy, in which users had to accept or else their account will be deleted, it faced a severe backlash.

After a lot of controversy over the same, WhatsApp had postponed its date of Privacy Policy update. Now, WhatsApp has set a new deadline for its users to accept its privacy policy.

New Deadline – May 15

The deadline for accepting WhatsApp’s new updated privacy policy is May 15th. If you do not accept the new policy, you will not be able to send messages in the app.

According to the report by TechCrunch, WhatsApp wil ask users ‘slowly’ to accept the new terms by May 15 if they want to get all the features of WhatsApp.

If the terms are not accepted by May 15th, Users will be able to receive calls and notifications, but they won’t be able to read or send any messages from the app. Do note that this too will be the case for a short time.

What will happen after May 15.?

Users can still accept the updated privacy policy after May 15. But its policy related to inactive users will apply after May 15. That is, ”To maintain security, limit data retention and protect the privacy of our users, WhatsApp accounts are generally deleted after 120 days of inactivity”.

Hence there are chances that if a user doesn’t accept WhatsApp’s new privacy policy, then four months after May 15, the account will be deleted.
