Vivo appears to be preparing a new pair of midrange smartphones, with the Y600i and Y600i AI Edition now showing up in Chinas 3C certification database. The listing provides an important detail about charging and adds to earlier evidence that the two phones are under development.
According to the certification, the device carries the model number V2617A and is listed as a 5G digital mobile phone. The database does not mention the commercial name, but the same model number has previously been associated with the Vivo Y600i and Y600i AI Edition on the Google Play Console supported device list.
The latest certification confirms support for up to 44W wired fast charging. This is particularly interesting because the charging specification is also available on the existing Vivo Y500i, suggesting that Vivo may continue with a similar approach for its upcoming generation.
Both upcoming models are expected to sit in the midrange segment and could serve as successors to the Vivo Y500i. Earlier certification information showed the Y600i and Y600i AI Edition using the same model number and device code. This has led to speculation that the two versions could share much of their core hardware.
However, Vivo has not yet officially revealed the complete specifications, launch date or pricing of either smartphone. The 3C listing mainly confirms the charging capability, so other specifications should be treated as expected rather than confirmed at this stage.
The Vivo Y500i gives some indication of what the new phones could be positioned around. The current model features a large 6.75 inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 720 by 1570 pixels. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, which is manufactured using a 4nm process.
Battery capacity is one of the standout features of the Vivo Y500i. The smartphone comes with a 7200mAh battery and supports 44W wired fast charging. If Vivo follows a similar strategy with the Y600i series, long battery life could once again be a major focus.
The Y500i also offers a range of connectivity features, including 5G, 4G LTE, dual band Wi Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and a USB Type C port. The upcoming Y600i models are expected to bring updated specifications, although Vivo has not confirmed which features will carry over from the previous generation.
The appearance of the phones across multiple certification platforms suggests that the launch process is moving forward. Their earlier appearance on the Google Play Console provided evidence of the devices, while the latest 3C certification has now revealed their charging capability.
For now, the 44W charging support is the clearest confirmed detail available about the Vivo Y600i series. More information about the display, processor, cameras, battery capacity and pricing could emerge through additional certifications or official announcements ahead of the launch.
