RTO rules change: People will no longer need to visit, Vehicle owners good news here, Government made changes in RTO rules. The Maharashtra government has decided to make six RTO services online. The six services include renewal, duplicate driving license, change of address on licence, duplicate RC book, and change of address on RC book and no-objection certificate of license to another state.

With this step, people will no longer need to go to the RTO. Only those who need Permanent Driving License or come for verification for International Driving License will need to visit the RTO. “Around 20 lakh people used to visit the transport department offices for these services.

From now on, people will not need to visit the transport department offices. These faceless services will be Aaadhar based, hence no chances of duplication or fraud Maharashtra government Transport Minister Anil Pranab said. He said that the Transport Department of Maharashtra is providing 118 different services to the citizens, out of which 80 are online and now six more have been added.

He said that his department has received some complaints regarding online learning license and discussions are on with NIC to resolve the issue. Also, an online portal has been developed to allow ultra-dimensional consignments. Separately, the minister informed that the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will induct 3,000 new buses, which includes 2,000 electric and 1,000 CNG-run buses.

On the demand for fare hike by auto rickshaws, the Minister said that the matter of increasing the fares of auto rickshaws and taxis in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region is under active consideration and talks are on with the unions. He further expressed concern over the increase in road accident cases in Maharashtra.
