Karnataka: 104 PUC students discontinued education

In the coastal two districts 100 girl students have discontinued their education in first PUC and four in second PU. This includes 89 girl students of Dakshina Kannada (DK) and 15 from Udupi. Karnataka: 104 PUC students discontinued education. In total, 1010 girl students discontinued their PU education in the state in the academic year 2021-22 due to various reasons including hijab row.

This includes 15 female students from Udupi district and 89 female students from Dakshina Kannada state of Karnataka. 48 female students from Mangaluru taluk, 6 from Belthangadi, 17 from Bantwala, 14 from Puttur, 5 from Udupi, 1 from Karkala and 9 from Kundapur taluk who were studying in first PUC.

 and 3 from Mangalore and one student from Belthangadi who were studying in second PUC are discontinued education in middle of academic year..It is yet to be known whether they will be re-enrolled in the year 2022-23 or will write the exam directly through the private system.

It cannot be said that all female students have their education discontinued because of hijab. Sources in the PU department said that there could be other reasons besides this. After Corona, 652 children of primary and secondary schools dropped out of school, out of which 348 children were re-enrolled. 15-16 year olds have more dropouts than 6 to 14 year olds.

260 children in the age group of 6 to 14 years were found to be out of school, out of which 246 children were re-enrolled. An official informed that 392 children of 15-16 years are out of school and only 102 children have been re-enrolled in school.
