OPS implementation: CM Siddaramaiah gives bad news to government employees

Karnataka Congress Government in their election manifesto before the election, if their party comes to power, it promised to the Karnataka Government Employees long-standing demand to cancel the New Pension Scheme (NPS) and implement Old Pension Scheme (OPS). OPS implementation: CM Siddaramaiah gives bad news to government employees.

Now government said that it has not decided to implement the old pension scheme for state government employees. By this the state government employees who were waiting for the implementation of OPS have been given a big shock.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah answered a pointed question asked by member Kota Srinivasa Pujari in the Vidhan Parishad. As per the answer given by the CM regarding the number of government employees under NPS scheme in the state, as on 24-06-2023, the number of employees working under the National Pension Scheme is 3,04,511.

When asked whether the government has decided to implement the old pension scheme for state government employees, CM Siddaramaiah said no. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah answered the question for implementing old pension scheme, he informed that a committee under the chairmanship of the Deputy Chief Secretary to the Government has been ordered to study the steps taken to implement the scheme and submit a report.
