Asia Cup final 2023: Axar Patel out, top all-rounder join team

India will face Sri Lanka in Asia Cup final 2023 on September 17 Sunday at Premadasa stadium Sri Lanka. Both team making preparation for final clash. In recent cricket update team India top all rounder injured and out from the Asia Cup final.

Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar will join the Indian team ahead of the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka on Sunday. The 23-year-old Sundar has been selected as a replacement for Axar Patel who was injured during the Super Four loss against Bangladesh by 6 runs.

Sundar, who is part of the Indian team for the upcoming Asian Games, is currently participating in a camp in Bengaluru. He last played ODI at home against New Zealand in January 2023. Axar scored 42 runs off 34 balls in the ‘Super 4’ match against Bangladesh on Friday.

Axar is the key all-rounder in India’s World Cup 2023 squad and the team management doesn’t want any chance of aggravating his injury. Same like Team India Sri Lanka team faced a shock before the start of the Asia Cup final 2023. The team leading spinner Maheesh Theekshana has been ruled out of the team with an acute injury.

He suffered an acute hamstring problem in the crucial match against Pakistan. Now the medical report has come that the injury is serious. Therefore, he will not participate in the Asia Cup final. In this Asia Cup, the Sri Lankan team was without four important bowlers.

However, Dasun Shanaka led team has succeeded in reaching the finals. So far, they have lost another player before the final. Earlier Vanindu Hasaranga, Lahiru Kumar, Dushmantha Chamera and Madhushanka were out of the team due to injury. Now Maheesh Theekshana is also out as the 5th player which will cause a setback for the Sri Lanka team.
