Team India fans breathed a great sigh of relief after all-format captain Rohit Sharma returned to the nets for the upcoming white-ball series against hosts England on Sunday. One of the finest opening batters across all formats, veteran opener Rohit Sharma had missed the Test series decider between India and hosts England at Edgbaston. Nicknamed the Hitman, the star batter of the Asian giants had tested positive for COVID-19 amid India’s practice match against the Leicestershire County Cricket Club last month.
The senior batter tested COVID positive in a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) which eventually ruled him out of the rescheduled 5th Test match between India and England. Pace ace Jasprit Bumrah was appointed the leader of the Rohit Sharma-less India side for the Test series decider in Birmingham. As per the latest developments, Rohit has successfully recovered from COVID-19 and the Indian skipper is also out of isolation.
The 35-year-old was seen warming up for the white-ball series against England on Sunday. The white-ball maverick enjoyed a fruitful net session at the Team India camp in the build-up to the T20I series opener between India and hosts England. On a day when Rohit was spotted hitting the nets for India, the second-string side of the visitors squared off against Northamptonshire at the County Ground, Northampton.
