As expected, star candidate Suresh Gopi has been given ticket in Thrissur. In Thiruvananthapuram, Union Ministers Rajiv Chandrasekhar and V Muraleedharan will contest from Attingal, while Anil Antony will contest from Pathanamthitta.

L. Ashwini from Kasaragod Constituency, C Raghunath from Kannur, Dr. Abdul Salam from Malappuram., Nivedita Subrahmanyan from Ponnani, C. from Palakkad. Krishnakumar, Shobha Surendran from Alappuzha, Praful Krishna from Vadakara, M.T. Ramesh contest from Kozhikode.

The attempt to form an India alliance to face the BJP has failed in Kerala, the ruling LDF alliance has already announced its candidates and the UDF has also announced its candidates and is gearing up for battle. Triangular competition is likely to take place in most sectors.

High expectations

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar from Thiruvananthapuram. Chandrasekhar, who has recently stepped down from the Rajya Sabha membership, can be fielded if the old party decides to field Congress party chief Shashi Tharoor. Chandrasekhar is the Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and Information Technology.

Besides, the BJP has fielded Anil Antony, son of Congress stalwart and former Union Minister AK Antony, from Pathanantitta. Other notable names on the BJP ticket from Kerala include senior leaders Suresh Gopi from Thrissur, Shobha Surendran from Alappuzha and Union Minister of State V Muraleedharan from Attingal.
