A non-bailable warrant has been issued against Director Shankar by Egmore Magistrate Court II. He had failed to appear several times before the Court regarding the case of plagiarism. His 2010 blockbuster ‘Enthiran’ was accused of plagiarism by Writer Arur Tamilnadan.
A complaint was filed by writer Arur Tamilnadan stating that the story of Shankar’s ‘Enthiran’ was a copy of his story titled ‘Jiguba’. Arur Tamilnadan had published his story in 1996.
Since, Shankar and his counsel failed to appear before the Court repeatedly, a non-bailable warrant was issued against the director. The case has been adjourned to February 19.
Arur Tamilnadan claims that Shankar had copied his story, which is a violation of Copyright Act, 1957.
