These important rules change from today

During the month of July, there are several financial deadlines and rule changes that will come into effect. As the deadline for filing income tax returns (ITR), 31 July 2024 approaches, several important fiscal deadlines and regulatory changes are about to come into effect. Here are some crucial deadlines to remember.

Income Tax Return (ITR) Deadline:

The deadline for filing income tax returns for the financial year 2023-24 (assessment year 2024-25) is July 31, 2024. Taxpayers who missed this deadline can still file a belated return by December 31, 2024.

Important Deadlines:

July 1, 2024: Changes to SBI Credit Card Terms and ICICI Bank Credit Card Charges will be effective.

July 15, 2024: Completed migration of Citibank credit card to Axis Bank.

July 20, 2024: Paytm Payments Bank closes inactive wallets.

July 31, 2024: Last date for filing income tax returns for the financial year 2023-24.

Closure of Paytm Wallet:

On July 20, 2024, Paytm Payments Bank will close wallets with NIL balances and no transactions for more than a year. The bank’s website says, “Please note that all wallets with zero balance and no transactions in the last 1 year or more will be closed from July 20, 2024.

All affected users have been sent a communication and given a 30-day notice period before the user closes their wallet.”

Change in SBI Card Credit Card Rules:

From July 1, 2024, SBI Card will stop accruing reward points on government-related transactions for several credit cards. Affected cards include:

Central SBI Select+ Card

Chennai Metro SBI Card

Club Vistara SBI Card

Club Wistar SBI Card PRIME

Delhi Metro SBI Card

Etihad Guest SBI Card

IRCTC SBI Card

IRCTC SBI Card Premier

Mumbai Metro SBI Card

ICICI Bank credit card charge revisions:

ICICI Bank will implement changes in various credit card service charges from July 1, 2024. Notable updates include increasing the card replacement fee from Rs 100 to Rs 200 for all cards except the Emerald Private Metal Credit Card.

Additionally, the following fees will be discontinued:

Cheque/Cash pick-up fee of Rs 100 per pick-up

Charge slip request fee of Rs 100

Dial-a-draft transaction fee of 3 per cent of the draft value with a minimum of Rs 300

Outstation cheque processing fee of 1 per cent of the cheque value with a minimum of Rs 100
