PM Kisan Scheme: Big shock for farmers, 81000 beneficiaries out from scheme

There is a new update about the ineligible farmers getting the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in wrong way. In fact, the Bihar government has directed public sector banks to speed up the process of withdrawing funds from around 81,000 ineligible farmers who have benefited from the PM Kisan scheme.
These people are found ineligible by the central government to pay income tax or avail the benefit of this scheme for other reasons. PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a central government scheme under which the farmers of the country get an assistance of Rs 6,000 per year.
As per the guidelines of PM Kisan scheme, the state governments identify the farmer families who are eligible for assistance. After this, the assistance amount is directly sent to the bank account of the beneficiary farmer families. During the investigation of the beneficiaries of this scheme, it was found that the money went into the accounts of 81,000 ineligible farmers in Bihar.

The Bihar State Agriculture Department has asked all concerned banks to speed up the process of withdrawing money from ineligible farmers. About Rs 81.59 crores have to be recovered from 81,595 farmers in the state. Banks have been instructed to send fresh reminders to ineligible farmers if required.
Further, banks have been instructed to stop transactions from the accounts of ineligible farmers. The scheme was launched to provide minimum income support to the small and micro farmers of the country. However, this amount has been distributed to thousands of ineligible farmers under the scheme.

Rs 10.31 crores have been recovered from the ineligible beneficiary farmers so far. If the beneficiaries of this scheme are found by the government to be ineligible to pay income tax or other reasons, they will have to return the amount received so far to the government.
