According to a recent tweet by the Mumbai Traffic Police, private buses and heavy vehicles have been banned from entering the route between Shankarwadi and Dahisar Check Naka on June 4 from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm in order to ease traffic congestion and movement of election-related vehicles and normal traffic.

An official press note issued by the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Suburban Traffic further elaborates on the traffic management strategies. The counting of votes in three constituencies at the NESCO Exhibition Center is expected to attract a large number of candidates, supporters, media personnel and emergency service vehicles, necessitating these strict traffic measures.

Major traffic restrictions and alternative routes:

Restricted Areas: Western Express Highway, North Bound Service Road from Jaykoch Junction to Nesco Gap Junction will be closed to all vehicles except the Election Commission, officials and staff involved in the counting process.

Restriction Timings: These restrictions will be enforced on June 4, 2024 from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Alternative ways:

Vehicles heading towards Nesco Gap via Jaycoch Junction Western Expressway, North Bound Service Road shall take a left turn at Nesco Gap via Jaycoch Junction Slip Road.

Traffic coming from Mrinalatai Gore Junction to Jaykoch Junction will turn right at Mrinalatai Gore Junction and take a U-turn from Mrinalatai Gore Bridge south to Mahananda Junction, then precede to the slip road to Jaykoch Junction.

Raju Bhujbal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), East Suburb Mumbai, who is in charge of West Suburb Mumbai Traffic, emphasized the importance of these measures to maintain smooth traffic and ensure public safety during the counting process.

Residents and commuters are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the traffic advisories issued by the authorities. The Mumbai Traffic Police will deploy additional personnel to manage the situation and help motorists navigate the restricted zones.
