Amid the changing security situation in West Asia, Air India and Air India Express have extended the suspension of flight services to several cities in Saudi Arabia. According to separate travel advisories issued on Friday, flights to and from Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam will remain suspended until October 20, 2026.

Air India stated that the safety of passengers and crew remains its top priority and that the situation is being closely monitored. The airline said further updates regarding the resumption of services will be provided based on the security situation.

Meanwhile, other major Indian airlines, including IndiGo and Akasa Air, have also suspended flights to Saudi cities. IndiGo has cancelled its services to Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Madinah until October 24, while Akasa Air has suspended flights to Riyadh until October 24 and Jeddah until October 21.

Passengers affected by the cancellations have been given the option to receive a full refund or reschedule their travel dates without any additional charges. The flight suspensions come amid heightened security concerns following reports of an attack by Yemen-based Houthi rebels on Riyadh airport.

Reports indicate that King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh is expected to remain closed at least until October 17. Passengers planning to travel to Saudi Arabia have been advised to check their flight status through the airline’s official website or mobile app before heading to the airport. Travellers are also advised to monitor emails and messages for the latest updates regarding their flights.
