IMD Issued red alert, heavy rainfall alert in these states till June 20

The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) Guwahati, under the IMD, has issued a special weather bulletin on Sunday evening, which includes a rain warning and a 'red' alert.

Amid continuous rains in Assam over the past few days, more rainfall activity is forecast till June 20 and a ‘Red Alert’ has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on June 17 and 18. IMD Issued red alert, heavy rainfall alert in these states till June 20.

The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) Guwahati, under the IMD, has issued a special weather bulletin on Sunday evening, which includes a rain warning and a ‘red’ alert. The IMD gave an account of the current weather conditions, saying, “An east-west trough passes from north-west Bihar to Meghalaya into a cyclonic circulation over sub-Himalayan West Bengal at an altitude of 0.9 km above sea level.

A cyclonic circulation lies over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining areas and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. Another cyclonic circulation is located between 1.5 km and 5.8 km above mean sea level over Northeast Assam and adjoining areas.

The conditions described by IMD are predicted to lead to meteorological phenomena as follows: “Under the influence of above synoptic conditions and intrusion of moisture from Bay of Bengal due to S-ly/SW-ly winds in low lever, widespread rainfall accompanied by heavy heavy rains from June 16-20, 2024, andExceptionally heavy rain on June 18, 2024.Date wise prediction:

June 17: Light to moderate rain likely at most places with isolated very heavy rain over Chirang, Baksa, Barpeta, Bongaigaon and Tamulpur districts. Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts are likely to experience heavy rain with heavy rain at isolated places and Dibrugarh, Dima Hasao, Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj districts with thunder and lightning.

Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in South Salmara, Goalpara, Bajali, Nalbari and Karbi Anglong districts and West Karbi Anglong, Sibsagar, Charaideo and Tinsukia districts are also likely to experience thunder and lightning.

June 18: Light to moderate rain likely at most places, with heavy to very heavy rain likely at isolated places over Barpeta. Heaviest rain over Chirang, Baksa, Bongaigaon and TamulpurDhubri, Kokrajhar, Udalguri, Morigaon, Nagaon, West Karbi Anglong, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Jorhat and Majuli are likely to experience heavy rain with isolated very heavy rain.

Also, heavy rain with thunder and lightning is likely in Dibrugarh, Dima Hasao, Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj districts. And isolated places of South Salmara, Goalpara, Bajali, Nalbari, Kamrup Rural, Kamrup (M), Hojai, Sibsagar, Charaidio and Dibrugarh districts are likely to receive heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.

June 19: With isolated very heavy rains at Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon, and heavy rains at isolated places in Chirang are likely Buxa, Tamulpur, Nalbari, Nagaon, Morigaon, West Karbi Anglong, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts.And with heavy rain at isolated places over South Salmara and Golaghat, heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Dhubri, Goalpara, Bajali, Kamrup Rural, Kamrup (M), Darrang, Udalguri, Hojai, Sonitpur.

Biswanath, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Jorhat, Majuli, Sibsagar, Charideo, Karimganj and Cachar districts.June 20: Light to moderate rains likely at most places, isolated very heavy rains at Kokrajhar with heavy to very heavy rains, isolated heavy rains at Barpeta, West Karbi Anglong. , Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao Districts,And Chirang, Baksa, Bongaigaon, Nagaon and Morigaon districts received heavy rainfall at isolated places.

Due to two cyclonic circulations one over northeast Assam and the other over sub-Himalayan West Bengal the following weather conditions are expected: Scattered moderate rain with thunder, lightning and squall (30-40 kmph) is expected over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha during the next three days, after which activity is likely to increase.

Odisha is likely to experience isolated heavy rains on June 20, 2024. Fairly widespread light to moderate rains scattered with thunder and lightning are expected over Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada during the next five days.

Isolated heavy rain is likely over Konkan and Goa on June 16 and from June 18 to June 20, Madhya Maharashtra on June 16, June 19 and June 20 and Saurashtra and Kutch on June 16. Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe and Lakshadweep are likely to experience widespread thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) with moderate rain.

Scattered light to moderate rain is expected over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next 5 days. Isolated heavy rain is expected over Kerala and Mahe on June 17 and June 18, over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on June 18 and over coastal Karnataka on June 20, 2024.
