IMD issued heavy rainfall alert: Red alert issued in these states

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert on Saturday and moderate to heavy rain is expected in Goa for the next two days, an official said.

Considering North-Eastern states, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate rain with thunder, lightning and gale force winds in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura West Bengal and Sikkim till June 15. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert on Saturday and moderate to heavy rain is expected in Goa for the next two days, an official said. According to IMD, Monsoon has been active over the coastal state in the last 24 hours.

The department said that there was moderate rain in many places and heavy rain in some parts of Goa. The IMD has issued a red alert for June 9 and June 10 for moderate to heavy rains in North and South Goa districts, officials said. Heavy rains are likely at some places and very heavy rains at isolated places, he said. The IMD is said to have issued an orange alert for June 11 and 12.

The weather report further states, “Isolated heavy rain is likely over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during 08-12; Assam and Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh during 09-12; Nagaland on 08 and 12 June, 2024. Assam and Meghalaya will receive heavy rains on June 11 and 12.

The meteorological agency has predicted Considering the weather conditions in southern states, light to moderate rain, thunder, lightning and gale-force winds are forecast over Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep till June 13. While moderate rain over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the same periodic suggested. Goa, Maharashtra, Kerala and Karnataka will receive heavy rain till June 12.

IMD said that “Moderate rain with scattered light rain with thunder, lightning and squall (30-40 kmph) is likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh during the next 4-5 days,” the states said. Wet weather with thunder and lightning is likely to affect Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand today.
