The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a yellow alert in the national capital. The IMD predicted rainfall on Thursday and Friday and warned the public of gusty winds. Weather report says that Heavy Rainfall alert in these states for 5 days from today. Several parts of India are likely to witness rainfall over the next few days.
As per the India Meteorological Rainfall (IMD), heavy rainfall alert with thunderstorm and hailstorm activity over northwest India from the evening of March 23 and on March 24 and over central and east India between March 25 and 27. A Western Disturbance is seen as a cyclonic circulation over Iran and the neighbourhood in lower and middle tropospheric levels.
It is likely to move eastwards towards north India during the next two days. Weather report says that A cyclonic circulation lies over southwest Rajasthan and the neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels and a trough runs from Rayalaseema to south Jharkhand in lower tropospheric levels. Under the influence of the above weather phenomenon, a fresh spell of rainfall and thunderstorm activity is likely to commence over northwest India from March 23 to March 25.
Isolated hailstorms are also predicted over Punjab and west Rajasthan on Thursday and over Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh and north Rajasthan on March 24. Hailstorms are also expected over Uttarakhand on March 25.
Meanwhile, over central India, mainly dry weather is likely over the region during the next two days. Thereafter, a fresh spell of rainfall, thunderstorm and hailstorm activity is likely to commence over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on March 25 and 26.

Rainfall is also predicted over several parts of south India. “: Isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorm & lightning likely over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe and Andhra Pradesh during next 5 days. A fresh spell of rainfall & thunderstorm activity is likely to commence over Telangana, Kerala & Mahe and interior Karnataka from 24th March,” the IMD stated.
