Mumbai: In keeping with auto industry trends of going digital, SUV major, MahindraNSE 1.47 % & Mahindra today announced the launch of its end-to-end online car owning solution called Own-Online. The company’s network of 270 plus dealers & 900 plus touchpoints have been integrated into ‘Own-Online’ for real-time assistance, hygienic home test-drives & vehicle delivery.
The company in its statement said that in 4 steps, a customer can avail of online exchange, finance and insurance, personalize & own their chosen Mahindra vehicle. These four steps include personalising the vehicles, getting a quote for the vehicle, choosing finance & insurance as well as making payment and getting contactless delivery at the preferred location.
Mahindra’s automotive division CEO Veejay Nakra, says, “Own Online allows the customer to own a Mahindra vehicle in less time than it takes to get a pizza delivered! With our pre and post purchase online solutions already in place, reimagining the car purchase experience was a logical next step for us.”
In the recent times, online has been a preferred purchase channel across categories and going forward, the online purchase of vehicles is set to gain more traction. We are ready to lead this change in automotive retail by providing many industry-first experiences to our customers, Nakra said. Dealers however feel that the online medium is only a temporary phase and customers will come back to showrooms as car buying is a very physical choice and needs test drives and authentication prior to decision making.
Dealerships have upgraded their procedures & processes and are trained to minimize physical contact. Over the last six months, a number of automotive companies have been venturing into the digital space to woo customers especially as the lockdown has prevented them from physically visiting dealerships, which themselves are shut. Companies such as Honda, Hyundai, BMW and Maruti SuzukiNSE -2.00 % and others feel this is an option to reach out to potential customers as a supplementary support support to dealers.
