Independence Day 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked backed the women scientists behind the ambitious Chandrayaan mission of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in his address to the nation at the Red Fort. He also announced the Vishwakarma Yojana at a cost outlay of Rs 13,000 crore to Rs 15,000 crore to help the workers in the OBC community such as barbers, tanners, and blacksmiths among others. He said that the scheme will be launched on Vishwakarma Jayanti next month.

Addressing the nation from Red Fort, PM Modi said, “In the coming months we will launch Vishwakarma yojana for those who work with their tools, such as goldsmiths, ironsmith, washermen, hair-dressers and masons who mostly come from the OBC class.”

The scheme will be launched on the upcoming Vishwakarma Jayanti, September 17, the Prime Minister announced in his last Independence Day speech before the next Parliament election. The PM also lauded the contributions of women self-help groups and said his dream is to make two crore ‘lakhpati didis’.

“It is my dream to make two crore ‘lakhpati didis’ in the country. Today, 10 crore women are associated with women self-help groups,” the prime minister added. The Prime Minister also promised to eliminate poverty and said that the country will be one of the top global economies in the next five years.

“Our goal is to strengthen the economy, empower the people, and make India a developed country. It’s Modi’s Guarantee that within the next 5 years, I’ll place India in the list of Top-3 economies of the world,” PM Modi said.
