Karnataka Election 2023: Siddaramaiah Congress leader and former Chief minister has said that the first list of party candidates for the upcoming assembly elections is expected to be released on March 17. Talking to the media representatives in Davangere, he said that the possibility of winning is the first criterion considered for the selection of candidates. The meeting of the party’s central election committee will be held on March 17 and the list can be published only then, Siddaramaiah Congress leader said. The application of the ticket aspirants is reviewed by the Screening Committee. A few days ago, KPCC President DK Shivakumar said.

The Congress aims to win at least 150 seats in the elections to the 224-member Karnataka Assembly. BJP had won 104 seats in the 2018 assembly elections. Congress won 78 seats and JDS 37 seats. JD(S) has already announced the first list of candidates and named 90 candidates. BJP and Congress are yet to release the list of candidates.

Meanwhile, the election campaign of political parties has intensified. BJP is trying to woo voters through Vijay Sankalpa Yatra, Congress Prajadhwani Yatra, JDS Pancharatna Yatra and conventions. The Central Election Commission has gone to check the preparation

A delegation of the Central Election Commission, which went on a three-day state tour last week to inspect the preparations for the elections, left on Saturday to give information about the preparations. Central Election Commission Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar held a press conference at Vikasasoudha on Saturday and informed about the preparations.

He informed about the steps taken by the commission including allowing the disabled and those above 80 years to vote from home. Meanwhile, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) cannot be misused anywhere, by anyone. He made it clear that they will not be changed. The Congress had decided not to use the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) used in Gujarat.
