COVID-19 Vaccination for All Above 45 to Begin From 1 April: Govt

New Delhi: The government on Tuesday said that all those above the age of 45 years can get vaccinated against Covid-19 starting April 1. So far, besides healthcare and frontline workers, only those above 60 and those over 45 with specific comorbid conditions were eligible for vaccine jabs.

The government’s decision to expand the vaccination drive comes at a time when India is witnessing a resurgence in coronavirus infections.

“It has been decided that from April 1, the vaccine will open for everybody above 45 years of age. We request that all those who are eligible should immediately register and get vaccinated,” Union minister Prakash Javadekar told reporters.
